WA: Hundreds flock to save stranded whales
PERTH, Jan 14 AAP - Hundreds of people have flocked to a West Australian beach todayto help save six Gray's Beaked whales which are stranded at Geographe Bay.
The whales were spotted in shallow water near the Mandalay Caravan Park, west of Busselton,at 7am WST, the Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM) said.
A veterinarian had checked the stranded whales and confirmed that the heartbeats wereregular in the five adults and one juvenile, CALM spokesman Nigel Higgs said.
