Vic: Man's arm caught in circular saw
MELBOURNE, Aug 18 AAP - A Victorian man was airlifted to hospital today after catchinghis arm in a circular saw while working at his home south of Melbourne.
The man, in his 70s, was using the saw at his Dromana home, on the Mornington Peninsula.
He became stuck after slicing his right arm between the shoulder and the elbow aboutmidday (AEST), Metropolitan Ambulance Service spokesman James Howe said.
He was trapped for 40 minutes before being freed by intensive care paramedics.
"There was a lot of blood loss and quite an extensive amount of pain ... ," Mr Howe told AAP.
Once freed, the man was taken to a nearby oval and airlifted to The Alfred hospital,Melbourne, in a serious but stable condition.
"He has sustained quite deep lacerations to the arm and will require extensive surgery,"
Mr Howe said.
The man was due to arrive at The Alfred shortly after 1pm.
